Investments
From "off-the-shelf" investment models to BMSG's own Investment Management Process, get personalised support to make the most of your money.
At BMSG, we believe that investment management should be a regular and continuous process, rather than a series of disjoint decisions that are only made when you've scheduled a review. That's why our advisers will monitor your investments and keep you informed to make sure you get the most out of your money.
Alongside "off-the-shelf" investment models, such as ISA's, investment bonds, and pensions, BMSG has its own Investment Management Process.
BMSG's Investment Management Process
We carry out regular analysis of retail grade investment funds and use various filtering and metrics to select those we believe to have the potential to perform well.
Should any fund be deemed to be under-performing, we will immediately recommend a fund switch to clients holding that investment – no waiting until the next formal review.
This process, including the fund monitoring and switching, is included within a client's Ongoing Adviser Charge, as we believe this is exactly what clients should expect from their adviser.
Collaborating with your accountant, our independent advisers can offer a fresh perspective on your tax situation that explores all of your options.
We understand that each client's situation is unique, and we take time to get to know you and your individual needs, goals, and financial objectives.
Types of Investment
An ISA is a tax-efficient savings or investment account. Any growth or income generated within an ISA is free from UK Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax.
There are several types of ISA, including Cash ISAs, Stocks & Shares ISAs, and Innovative Finance ISAs. Each tax year you have an ISA allowance — the maximum amount you can put across all of your ISAs combined.
Our advisers can help you make the most of your annual ISA allowance and choose the right type of ISA for your goals and risk appetite.
Investment bonds are a medium-to-long-term investment that can give you access to a range of funds. They are a single-premium life assurance policy that can be used as part of a wider investment strategy.
They offer some tax advantages, particularly useful for higher-rate taxpayers or those looking to manage their tax liability in later life. You can make withdrawals of up to 5% per year without an immediate tax liability.
As independent advisers, we can help you assess whether an investment bond is the right vehicle for your situation.
Pensions are one of the most tax-efficient ways to invest for the long term. Contributions benefit from tax relief, and your money grows free from Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax within the pension wrapper.
With various types of pension available — from workplace schemes to personal SIPPs — it can be complex to understand what's right for you. Our advisers can help you consolidate, contribute to, and plan around your pension investments.
For more detail on our pension services, visit our dedicated Pensions & Retirement page.
A General Investment Account is a flexible investment account that allows you to invest without the annual contribution limits of an ISA. It doesn't have the same tax advantages, but it gives you complete flexibility over what you invest in and when you access your money.
GIAs are often used alongside ISAs and pensions as part of a broader investment strategy — particularly for those who have used up their ISA allowance or want additional flexibility.
Our advisers will help you understand how a GIA fits within your overall financial plan and how to manage any tax exposure efficiently.
Independent investment advice across the UK
BMSG Wealth Management helps clients across the UK explore their options with independent advice. Start with a conversation about your goals and the support you need.
What does independent investment advice consider?
Your goals, time horizon, financial circumstances, capacity for loss and attitude to risk all matter. An investment that suits one person may not suit another.
Can I discuss ISAs and other investments?
BMSG's investment page explains ISAs, investment bonds, pensions and general investment accounts. You can discuss which options may be relevant to your circumstances rather than choosing a product in isolation.
Will my investment returns be guaranteed?
No. The value of investments can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invest. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
What should I ask about advice fees?
Ask your adviser to explain the advice process, services offered and any charges before deciding whether to proceed. A no-obligation conversation is not a promise that ongoing advice is free.
Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change. This information is general and is not personal financial advice.
